Added a HR power supply to my Gyrodec and popped my latest acquisition on it too.. pre owned ofc and way more than i wanted to spend.. but...well.. I've always wanted one. I seem to have developed a thing for 30 year old classic English engineering Wink It's a lovely thing and my system is sounding better than it ever has.

Speaking of awesome, when I bought this I got to spend an hour listening to a system comprising of Rockport Sirius III with tangential arm, No less than 4 Jadis JA 500's (or was it 800's?) biamping modified Rockport Altair speakers. Preamp was Jadis too.. phono was LFD. Not really advertising rivals here because that little lot cost several hundred thousand of yer english pounds. Yup you read that right.  Best part of half a mil. It did sound fabulous but really, how much money must you have to be able to drop that much on a hifi?

oh well Confused

Nice one Dave! I'll bet that sounds sweet. Classic British engineering indeed!

And a £500k system? I'd hope it did sound good for that money . I can't help wondering if it really sounded, say, 10 times better than a £50k system . . Different, maybe ... But, heck, if I was a billionaire the temptation to drop crazy money on a system just for the crack would probably be too hard to resist.

Yeah I would too. It was easily the best I've ever heard, but this resides in world where value for money is irrelevant and unfortunately I don't Wink

Quite honestly I believe the law of diminishing returns kicks in really hard once you get past, say, a moderately priced but well chosen separates system costing maybe a few hundred pounds per item. That will tell you whats on those discs well enough to be able to get enormous pleasure out of them, and that is what matters. But I'd guess most of us here are searching for that little bit more...

Lovely to see that SME V on your Gyrodec, Dave. I use a IV on my Orbe SE and am strongly convinced that the an SME/Michell combination is an audio marriage made in heaven. They are just so right together and I think the quality of engineering would even get Graham's nod of approval ... Smile
