This is a manufacturers forum for discussion of the manufacturer's products.

Friendly Public

It is known that other manufacturers have friendly "public" who will act in their preference on forums. If you join and engage in such acts your membership will be immediately terminated.

Overview

In trying to be fair about what can and cannot be posted in topics and replies it would be good to believe that all members will exercise fair judgment. However this is not always the case.

We had members join during the days when registration was a do it yourself thing who posted just about anything. The few, and I must point out that it was only a few, posted unsavory words (and sometimes pictures). A minority took to writing vitriolic criticism about others, which I don't think fair, and caused members to shy away from writing anything at all for fear of such criticism.

I then went to great efforts to have the registration software link to a registration form so I and John C could try and vet new registrations by calling for further personal information than just an email address and password. This has made the forum a much happier and pleasant web place for its members.

However, there is one remaining problem I have. You see, this forum is part of my website. The whole thing, apart from being about people who listen to music on high fidelity equipment, is in truth a commercial website obviously intended to promote my own products. It is paid for by me.

The problem is, that if I don't exercise some control, it often leads to a free promotion platform for other manufacturers. I would not mind if those other manufacturers returned the favour, but I will tell you in all honesty, that none would want to be a promotion platform for Graham Slee!

Therefore, if you wouldn't mind exercising some careful judgment then I won't have to make a load of draconian rules.

So far, you can see by browsing around that I do not edit or delete all that many posts that include other manufacturer's offerings. In fact over the last year I can count the number I have had to deal with on one hand. But those which go on to say I much preferred so and so to the one by Graham Slee, especially where it is in complete contrast to what others are saying, are going to be edited, deleted, or if it's spread like a disease all over the forum, spam cleansed.

And lastly a couple of other things...

1] Those who think this is a good place to get backlinks to support their own web rankings: the moment they are spotted, the spam cleaner gets clicked! I don't mind a dealer or other professional not in competition having a link in their signature provided it is in context, for example a musician or some form of recording studio where it is helpful, or a shop that's enthusiastic about our products, but when it comes to real estate or invoice factoring, then I'm sorry but the ultimate resort - the spam cleaner - will be used, and unfortunately it results in the member being locked out and all his/her posts being deleted - the spam cleaner knows every corner.

2] I know many think that forums are free - they don't cost anything. But those that don't are usually paid for by ads everywhere. That isn't the case here. There are no ads apart from the courtesy "free ads" for members to sell their unwanted or excess to requirements gear. No, this forum because of the way it is hosted, it's bandwidth and storage capacity, the fact it is on a lightly loaded server, and even more so the time we put into it, costs quite a few K pounds each year. Please respect that.

The rules below are more matter of fact and required by law, by the web host, and by us:
